If you've ever overheard a Gonstead chiropractor mention a "listing" — something like PLI or PRS — it isn't jargon for jargon's sake. It's shorthand for a specific finding: which vertebra is involved, and in which direction it has shifted relative to the vertebra below it.
Getting to a listing takes the full exam, not just one piece of it. Visualization shows outward signs like posture and gait changes. The Nervoscope identifies where along the spine nerve irritation is occurring. Static and motion palpation confirm which segment doesn't move the way it should. X-ray analysis then measures the actual bony position using specific lines and angles. When all of that lines up on one segment, that segment gets a listing — and the adjustment is built around correcting that exact position.
This is a meaningfully different starting point than an approach built around adjusting broad regions of the spine or applying the same general technique at every visit regardless of what's found. A listing means the adjustment has a target: one segment, one direction, one specific correction — not a general mobilization of the whole spine.
