How Peptide Therapy Works: Cell Signaling Explained | Mainestream Health

If you've read anything about peptides, you've probably seen big promises and very little explanation of why they might do anything at all. That's backward. Understanding the mechanism is the best way to separate serious clinical peptide therapy from marketing. So let's start with the biology.

Peptides are messengers

A peptide is a short chain of amino acids — smaller than a full protein, but built from the same material. Your body makes and uses peptides constantly, and a great many of them function as signaling molecules . Think of them as messengers that carry specific instructions to specific cells: repair this tissue, release this hormone, modulate this inflammatory response, regulate this metabolic pathway.
